The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) is a major funder of world-leading bioscience in the UK. Our vision is to advance the frontiers of biology and drive towards a healthy, prosperous, and sustainable future. We aim to achieve this by investing in world-class bioscience research in microbes, plans, animals and humans, tools and technology underpinning biological research and ranging from molecules to populations. We also invest in bioscience training and skills for the next generation of researchers, and forge interdisciplinarity and partnerships which are key to drive the widest possible social and economic impact.
At ADInstruments we create simple, flexible tools to help scientists and educators record and analyse data quickly and efficiently.
Powerful, flexible and accurate, our products are cited in more than 30,000 research papers in peer-reviewed journals and our equipment is the preferred choice for thousands of scientists and educators around the world.
We pride ourselves on supporting the scientific community with user-friendly software, specialised training options and solution-focused systems of the highest quality, giving them confidence in their data and in the power of their work.
Data acquisition, analysis and experiment control systems using the powerful 1401 family of laboratory interfaces. Specialist applications include intracellular and extracellular physiology, spike sorting, EEG, EMG, ECG, LTP, LTD, behavioural studies, evoked response, signal averaging and single channel/whole cell patch clamp. Systems can also be customised for specific applications.
SPARC bridges the body and the brain by creating resources for the peripheral nervous system, systems physiology, and spinal cord research communities. It includes FAIR open datasets, anatomical models and mapping, and sustainable, reproducible, collaborative computational modeling, standards, and ontologies. The SPARC Portal is an open repository providing professional data curation assistance in compliance with the NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy. The SPARC Portal is an ever-expanding community resource and data hub striving to accelerate research about the neural control of organs for the advancement of basic, translational, and clinical medicine and bioelectronic devices.
ISAN’s official journal, Autonomic Neuroscience: Basic & Clinical, covers of all aspects of the autonomic nervous system in man and animals. The main areas of interest include the innervation of blood vessels and viscera, autonomic ganglia, efferent and afferent autonomic pathways, and autonomic nuclei and pathways in the central nervous system. With fast turnaround times (median time from submission to first decision is 1 week and from submission to final decision following peer review and revision is 9 weeks), a growing impact factor, and an expert editorial team led by Editor-in-Chief Dr. Roy Freeman of Harvard Medical School and Basic Science Editor Prof. Julian Paton of University of Auckland, ISAN 2024 attendees and members are encouraged to submit their work for consideration in the official Journal of The International Society for Autonomic Neuroscience.
